Emberfall Legends
Emberfall Legends is the kind of RPG that respects your time while still giving you a proper adventure. You build a party of four, explore a fractured kingdom, and fight through turn-based encounters where positioning matters as much as raw stats. The story isn't Shakespeare, but the characters have enough personality that I cared what happened to them.
The skill tree is where it really opens up. There are dozens of viable builds, and I ended up replaying the early hours just to try a mage-heavy team after my first tanky run got stale. Combat stays readable on a phone screen, which is harder than it sounds for this genre.
My only gripe is that the mid-game difficulty spikes hard around chapter five. You'll want to grind a couple of side quests before pushing forward, otherwise a boss will wipe your whole party in two turns. Learned that one the painful way.
What we liked
- Deep, flexible skill trees
- Turn-based combat that reads well on mobile
- Characters worth caring about
